Original oil on canvas painting by John Gilroy (1898-1985) for Guinness. S.H. Benson Advertising Agency. From a set
of twelve New York City landmark scenes painted by Gilroy in
1947. These scenes were ordered by Benson for Guinness and the
original letter accompanies the complete set. They include some
scenes never known to exist including Rockefeller Center, St.
Patricks Cathedral, Holy Trinity Church, Ellis Island, New York
Public Library, the Woolworth Building, the New York Stock
Exchange and the Flat Iron Building as well as the Brooklyn
Bridge, the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, and the
Statue of Liberty. Sold as a set of 12 with the original letter and
portfolio or individually.
