A couple of months ago, Curious Objects podcast host Ben Miller rolled up at the Salmagundi Club in New York’s West Village to assume an unfamiliar role: that of interviewee rather than interviewer. Of course, Ben only moonlights as the host of Curious Objects; his main gig is at S. J. Shrubsole, the redoubtable purveyor of American and English silver and jewelry, where he has been director of research since 2014. And so it was with this vocation in mind that Carl Raymond, host of the Gilded Gentleman podcast, invited Ben to share his expertise on nineteenth-century American silver with that show’s audience, a conversation that we are proud to present to you now.
