In Memoriam: Peter Tillou

The world of art and antiques recently lost a legend and a treasure when renowned dealer Peter Tillou passed away quietly at his home in Litchfield, Connecticut at the age of 86. 


Tillou was admired, and indeed revered, for a piercing intelligence matched by a sparkling wit, and for the amazing breadth of his interests and expertise across fields of art, craft, and design. He was no less accomplished as a businessman, and over the course of his sixty-five-year career operated five galleries across the United States and in London.


Tillou was followed into the antiques trade by his son Jeffrey, and we at the magazine offer Jeffrey and all members of the Tillou family our deepest sympathies.
